The purchasing group, which included the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois and the Friends of the Farnsworth House, paid $7.5 million for the rectangular glass house, located in Plano, Illinois, and regarded as one of the masterpieces of modernism.
